If you think it will be hard to drag your child to the art museum, think again! Houston’s Art Car Museum, or Garage Mahal as it’s known by many, is a great place to let your child experience art in one of its most creative forms.
Local, national, and even international artists display vehicles that they have manipulated as a form of expression and entertainment. Not only are these cars beautifully decorated, but they are also still fully-functioning so that they can take part in Houston’s annual art car parade, the largest in the country, every May.
Outside of the art cars, this museum also features rotating exhibits with various works of more traditional mediums of art. So whether your child is longing to see a car shaped like a bunny rabbit, or perhaps a giant high heeled shoe, they are sure to find something that will inspire the little artist in them!

The kids will love the Art Car Museum from the minute you drive up, the exterior of the building is as exciting as the interior! Be prepared for the kids to want to come home and “artify” their power wheels!

This would be a great place to take my kiddos. They have been creating an “art car” of their own out of my backseat for years. Between the sticker-covered windows and the gum-laden armrests, we might be entering our Hyundai Sante Cray-Cray in this year’s parade!
