Baby, Toddler, and Family Yoga Classes!

One relaxing, healthy (and free!) activity you can do with your little one is yoga at the library! Teach them the importance of caring for your body’s development and functions early, and have a special opportunity to bond together.

The Houston Public Library offers infant (pre-walkers), toddler (ages three and under), and Family (ages three to eight) Yoga classes at a variety of times in different Houston libraries. Each class requires a parent or guardian’s attendance but yoga mats are provided if you don’t have your own.

In the baby sessions, parents and their infants practice stretching, movement, touch, and cradling. For the toddler classes, parents are shown simple yoga poses and children are encouraged to learn by your action, before mats come out and everyone starts moving and stretching together. During family yoga, poses are combined with interactive games, props and more.

Everyone can enjoy the opportunity to learn a lifelong hobby while finding relaxation as a family! Have you attended a yoga class at a Houston library? We’d love to get your thoughts in the comments below!

I would like to attend such a meaningful and healthy sport, however I am afraid of my kid. My baby is 18 months, he is full of vigor all the day. I want he can keep silence for just 10 minutes, but that seems very difficult. I think maybe attending a slow sport like yoga he can become gentle and quiet. I will try in later time, hope that will be workable.

You’ll definitely have to try it out Anne and let us know! I’m sure you aren’t the first mommy at yoga class with a rambunctious little one, and who knows maybe it’s the perfect activity to help you both relax!
