Football season is finally back and for some of you that may not mean anything, but for many native Houstonians that means Sundays – and occasionally Thursdays and Mondays – are time to root for the Texans! We found some of the best spots to watch the games, even if you’re not necessarily a Texans fan (we’ll forgive you, for now…) and where to get great grub while you’re watching.
Houston Texans Grille
Our first stop is a bit of a no-brainer. It definitely caters specifically to Texans fans but what you may not know is that the food is actually surprisingly good for a sports themed bar. You can find classic southern cuisine like shrimp and grits and chicken fried steak all the way to higher class fare such as seared pepper tuna and a delightful fire-roasted stuffed tomato. They also offer a gluten free menu for anyone with dietary restrictions!

Little Woodrow’s/Big Woodrow’s
This chain of bars has a location in almost every area of town, so no matter if you’re on the East Side, the Heights or the Galleria you know you have a solid sports bar nearby. Every location boasts a fair amount of televisions playing the games as well as a great outdoor seating area. Now that fall is beginning to kick in, those patio tables are looking mighty enticing and would be the perfect spot to hang out with friends while enjoying the games. If you’re coming here for food expect to see more of the average “bar food” selections and quality.
Pluckers Wing Bar
Pluckers is a small chain located throughout Texas, with one location in Baton Rouge. Even so, they have been named by ESPN as one of the top 5 sports bars in North America. Pluckers does more than just wings – they also offer sandwiches, burgers, and salads, so you don’t have to be limited if you’re not in the mood for chicken.

Saloon at Blackfinn
We’re going to round out the list with a higher end concept that is perfect for the night games, when you want the atmosphere, but are definitely ready for a great meal. Blackfinn American Grille is the perfect spot for a juicy filet mignon or their rich crab cakes, but did you know they have a saloon area that offers the same full menu as regular dining? Plenty of people come here to watch sports on any given day, if not for the food then definitely for the extensive list of signature cocktails, beer, and wine Blackfinn has to offer. If you’re in the mood for a decadent meal and a handmade cocktail while you watch the Texans then the Saloon is definitely your new spot.
