Matching Shapes

If you have kiddos between two and five years old, here’s an abc’s and numbers matching activity my little one enjoyed that I found on No Time for Flashcards. With very little materials needed, you can make your child’s next activity more exciting while developing motor skills, learning colors and sense of touch, too!

Supplies:
-Paper
-Felt
-Scissors
-Crayons
-Yarn

First with your paper and crayons, draw basic shapes. We thought it was fun to make the shapes into little carrots, but you could make them into sports balls, or bunnies too!

Then, create the same shapes out of the felt, and explain to your tot that they’ll be matching the sizes of felt with the shapes on the page. Now your child has a new activity they can enjoy, while bonding with you and learning at the same time! If this was a successful learning too, the same practice can also be applied with numbers and letters.

We’d love to know how you and your child learn together, let us know what you think in the comments below!
